Media - Old home movies and a soundtrack
Recollections by Keith
Heston FayreHeston was a village when we were children and it had a village fete. Well it seemed like a village at the time and it did have access to countryside and at least one country lane. OK, it did have the Great West Road running past it and Heathrow airport 5 miles away so we were in effect at the edge of the crash zone - but it seemed like a village. This film is interesting to see people 'enjoying themselves'. Remember this was the era of holiday camps and organised fun. I am one of the children in black tracksuits. |

Janet's DayJanet was born in January 1964, so this film must have been taken at the end of '64 / early '65. For anyone outside the family it is of little interest. |

Lampton Park SportsI think this was taken in 1965 during the annual inter-school sports day. The exact date is on a programme in the film. Ann is the girl bouncing up and down and running in one of the races. Cousin Roger is showing off his medals - he always won. I still have a medal from the 4x100yd relay, but not from that year |

Mum up a TreeThis is a short out-take that was randomly attached to one of the other reels. Apart from Mum teaching Ann how to climb a tree it shows the garden at our place in Broad Walk, Heston before it had a conservatory added. That happened, central heating got installed - then we moved as usual just as it got comfortable. |

On the BeachOtherwise known as 'Dad's epic', this was a video record of a family holiday at our grandparents' place in Polegate, E.Sussex. |

The MoveWe moved from Heston, Middlesex to Orpington, Kent in 1966 just after England won the World Cup. This film is an attempt to document why that happened. Part 2 is a short record of the Biggin Hill airshow that year. |

- Track Title Saint Olaves Grammar School Choir - circa 1969 - A painfully bad recording but if you listen through the distortion and tape flutter we were quite good. You can just about hear Grandma Balderson singing on the first bit - thankfully that was the only time our choirmaster let the audience join in.
